GOTS

Cotton Sleep organic products are crafted to meet the rigorous requirements of the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Endorsed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), GOTS stands as the world’s foremost certification for organic textiles. This certification goes beyond materials, covering ecological responsibility and fair social practices such as ethical sourcing and worker well-being. At Cotton Sleep, not only are our products GOTS certified – our entire manufacturing facility is proudly certified as well.

GOLS

Cotton Sleep uses certified organic latex that complies with both the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) and the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class 1. The GOLS certification guarantees that our latex is authentically organic, environmentally responsible, socially ethical, and fully traceable—from the rubber tree plantations where the sap is tapped to the processing, storage, and finally, into Cotton Sleep’s organic products.

OEKO-TEX®

Products made with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification are independently tested to ensure they are free from harmful chemicals and safe for human use. This globally recognized standard evaluates every component—fabric, thread, buttons, and accessories—against strict human-ecological requirements. Choosing OEKO-TEX®–certified textiles means choosing materials that prioritize consumer safety, environmental responsibility, and transparent production practices.

At Cotton Sleep, we believe in clear communication about our products. Terms like “non-toxic” or “toxin-free” are widespread in marketing but require context. Every substance, even natural ones like fruits, contains trace amounts of substances that could be harmful in excessive quantities. That’s why when we use terms like “non-toxic,” we’re specifically referring to compliance with established certification standards and our comprehensive internal research.

We intentionally avoid misleading terminology such as “chemical-free” (everything is composed of chemicals) or absolute claims like “100% non-toxic.” Instead, we provide accurate descriptions like “Our mattresses meet organic and non-toxic standards according to GOTS certification.” Our claims align with the requirements set by independent third-party certifiers who have no financial ties to Cotton Sleep.

We favor materials like organic cotton and wool that have coexisted with humans for centuries. This natural approach minimizes exposure to synthetic chemicals, though we do utilize certain synthetic materials when necessary and approved by certification standards.

Cotton Sleep deliberately avoids materials that release concerning chemicals into your sleep environment. This stands in contrast to conventional mattress manufacturing, which has historically relied on:
